Our surf school is located at the "Playa Encuentro" only about 10 min from our Hotel ( Surf Camp)

Playa Encuentro - one of the most famous reef-breaks of the North-Coast - is located only 10 minutes from the Surf Camp. The North swell of the Dominican Republic is Atlantic ocean. Wintertime we getNorth swell and summertime EAST and N/E Swell. An average water temperature is between 25-30 C (80-90 F).

We offer surfing lessons and surfboard rentals, including free ride on our daily surf shuttle.

The surf bus leaves the Surf Camp every day at 8:30am to go to Encuentro Beach and returns at 11:30am.   You do not need to sign up.   Just show up.

Surfing lessons are open to male and females of all ages.
We also offer private and child's lessons, please contact us for our specials.
Our student/teacher ratio is max 3 students: 1 teacher. You can take the complete course in a raw or you can spread it over your entire vacation. Every Surfing lesson includes board rental, rash guards, surf boots, 30 min theory and 2 hours of actual practice.

After each morning lesson and in the afternoon, our students have the chance to take part of our supervised surfing practice to go out on there own in an safe and supervised environment.
Most of our students manage to stand up and surf there first wave during their first lesson.

Our Surfing lessons

Beginner Lessons

Day 1 Land and ocean knowledge Practice on simulator to learn position, paddling, and take off Learn to ride the white water. Go with teacher in the water using a larger beginner board and practice positioning, paddling, takeoff and surf		Day 2 Learn how to evaluate the wave conditions. We will discuss wave size, direction, and second periods Practice on the board simulator. Advanced Lessons

We will evaluate each student depending on his physical and skill level. You will go surfing with one of our professional instructors with whom together you will work on improving your level of surfing knowledge.
You will learn to fine tune your skills and we can teach you some tricks as maybe a floater or how to throw some airs or other radical maneuvers, or even the simple things like how to improve your duckdive.

If you have not signed up for surf lessons your surfboard rental costs would be as seen below.  Along with the board, these prices include a leash, a lycra shirt, wax and transportation from the surf camp to Encuentro Beach and back.

Surfboard rental

We rent boards to our guests and to anyone else who visits our surf school.

For those who book any kind of individual surf lesson or pack of lessons with us, all costs of your surfing equipment will be included in the cost of your lessons.

We have a collection of more than 100 boards, all of top quality and in excellent condition.

Our collection includes fish, shortboards, guns, funboards, foamboards, fongboards, SUP (Stand-Up Paddle boards), and boogie boards.

Surf trips and other Spots you can visit on the Northshore

Playa Caleton: 45 min from here, small and very nice, romantic Caribbean, crystal blue water, fish specials, lobster and typical fresh Surfer-Cocktails........

Playa Grande: the most famous, around 1 hour drive, beautiful bay, big beach, nice water and waves, fresh fish.

Playa Preciosa: 2 min from Playa Grande. You have to see the beautiful Caribbean nature at it´s best ! outside reef (left), inside el Barco(right)

You have the chance to surf some other spots close to the camp, like Mananero, El canal, La bomba and Beachhouse

How to book a surf lessons or a surfboard?

If you want to learn sufing in Cabarete with Ali's Surf Camp you can just choose you accommodation and your surfing activity or one of the surf camp packages and send us an email to book it. In case you are staing at a different hotel, you also can attend surf lesson or rent a board with us just send us an email and we can arrange it for you.
